India, April 26 -- During the extended session of the Budget Session, Modi government could not pass three bills-the 131st Constitutional Amendment Bill, the Delimitation Bill, and the UT Amendment Bill-despite having a full majority in the Lok Sabha.

However, after the merger of 7 Rajya Sabha MPs from the Aam Aadmi Party, the BJP's strength in the Upper House has increased to 113, and the NDA's total strength has reached 146 members. This means the BJP, along with its NDA allies, is moving closer to a two-thirds majority in the Rajya Sabha. In the future, the opposition may find it harder to block legislation in the Upper House.
