India, June 29 -- The forward progress of the Hamilton Fire in Winthrop, Washington, has been successfully stopped by firefighters. All mandatory Level 3 "Go Now" evacuation orders have been lifted and downgraded. The Hamilton Fire was initially fueled by intense winds that pushed the flames across the Chewuch River, but firefighting teams have successfully contained it using a freshly dug handline. State officials expect a significant jump in official containment numbers following this progress.

Current Status

The fire reached approximately 80 to 100 acres in size. Over 250 firefighters, alongside air tankers and helicopters dropping retardant, stopped the fire's expansion. Crews remain on-scene to mop up and check for hot spots.
