India, Aug. 5 -- The San Francisco 49ers have strengthened their defensive line by signing veteran edge rusher Ogbo Okoronkwo as they continue to deal with injuries at the position. The move comes after the team's depth at edge rusher was impacted during training camp, prompting the 49ers to bring in an experienced pass rusher ahead of the new season.

According to reports, Okoronkwo joins San Francisco after previously spending time with the Los Angeles Rams, meaning he will now face his former team in NFC West matchups. The signing also comes as the 49ers carefully manage the workloads of Nick Bosa and Keion White during camp, while rookie Mykel Williams continues his recovery on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.
