India, July 23 -- The Argentina national football team fell marginally short of defending their FIFA World Cup title. After Lionel Messi led them to some impressive victories throughout the tournament, La Albiceleste suffered a narrow 1-2 defeat to Spain in a thrilling final at the New York New Jersey Stadium. Argentina were completely outplayed and hardly threatened their opponents during the 120-minute proceedings. However, questions were raised over some referee's decisions that went in Spain's favour.
