India, June 11 -- An Indian-origin officer working in the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has been killed in the line of duty, after being hit by a car while out on a police investigation near the town of Hearst in Canada. The incident had left Provincial Constable Tarun Bali, 29, with critical injuries and he was later pronounced dead. They have identified the 18-year-old man as the accused and charged him with first-degree murder. The accused is also charged with flight from police and dangerous driving, on each count twice. The incident has had rippling effects throughout the policing community in Ontario with senior officers stating the loss was devastating.
