India, July 28 -- Forty years after estate agent Suzy Lamplugh disappeared without a trace in west London, detectives say the mystery continues to haunt them. Despite one of the UK's largest missing person investigations, multiple searches, advances in forensic science and the death of the prime suspect, police have never found her body or identified the person responsible.

As the Metropolitan Police prepares to move the investigation into an inactive phase next year, officers hope new technology or fresh witnesses could finally solve one of the UK's most enduring cold cases.
