India, Nov. 5 -- Los Angeles' mayoral contest has brought a Hollywood screenwriter into the political spotlight. Vali Chandrasekaran, known for working on hit television comedies, has stood beside his wife, City Council member Nitya Raman, during her campaign to unseat Mayor Karen Bass. If Raman wins the November 3 election, Chandrasekaran could become Los Angeles' first gentleman.

But beyond the possible political title, he has built a career of his own in television, earned five Primetime Emmy nominations and shared a long journey with Raman that began at Harvard University.
