India, July 31 -- Marvel Studios appears to be moving one step closer to introducing a brand-new team of mutants to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). While the studio kept its upcoming X-Men film under wraps during this year's San Diego Comic-Con, a major casting update has now put the spotlight on Australian actor Samara Weaving.

According to Deadline, Weaving has been chosen to play Emma Frost in Marvel Studios' upcoming X-Men movie. The report states that director Jake Schreier and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige finalised the decision after meeting several actors for the coveted role.
