India, June 30 -- Filmmaker Carl Erik Rinsch, best known for directing 47 Ronin, has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison after being convicted of defrauding Netflix of $11 million (over Rs 100 crore).

According to Sky News, Netflix had given Rinsch the money to complete a science fiction series titled White Horse. Prosecutors alleged that instead of using the funds for production, he transferred the money to his personal account and spent it on luxury purchases.

The report said Rinsch bought five Rolls Royces and a red Ferrari worth about $2.4 million. He also spent around $3.3 million on furniture and antiques, purchased a Swiss watch worth $387,000 and paid nearly $1.7 million in credit card bills.
