India, May 5 -- Indian illustrator Anand RK has won the prestigious Pulitzer Prize in the category of Illustrated Reporting and Commentary. According to reports, their work highlights digital surveillance and cyber fraud, earning global recognition for reporting on emerging tech-driven crimes.
Anand shared the award with his colleagues, Suparna Sharma and Natalie Obiko Pearson of Bloomberg. They received the honour for their project titled "trAPPed."
According to The Pulitzer Prizes website, their work presents a "riveting account" of a neurologist in India who was held under a "digital arrest" through her phone.
The project, trAPPed, combines visuals and text to highlight the global challenges of surveillance and digital scams.
