India, Sept. 18 -- The Lizzie Borden Story brings one of America's most infamous murder cases back into the spotlight. The eight-episode series, starring Ella Beatty as Lizzie Borden, follows the woman who was accused of killing her father, Andrew Borden, and stepmother, Abby Borden, in Fall River, Massachusetts, in 1892. Lizzie was tried in 1893 and acquitted, but the verdict did little to erase public suspicion surrounding her. After the trial, Lizzie did not leave Fall River.

Instead, she used her inheritance to buy a large Victorian mansion in the city's wealthy Hill neighbourhood. She named the property Maplecroft, and it became her home for the rest of her life.
