India, April 25 -- India's weather this week reflects a country split in two where as large parts of north and central India are battling intense heat with temperatures pushing beyond 45degC in pockets while eastern and northeastern regions brace for thunderstorms and heavy rainfall.

According to the India Meteorological Department, this contrast is being driven by a mix of dry continental winds, weak western disturbances and active moisture systems in the east. The result is a volatile pattern where heatwaves and storm alerts are unfolding simultaneously.
