India, April 14 -- Rising temperatures are tightening their grip across India with several cities already touching 40degC in mid-April. Northern plains, western regions and central India are witnessing early heatwave conditions, while hill states remain comparatively cooler while forecasts suggest a below-average monsoon at 92% of the long-period average, raising concerns for agriculture, water supply and power demand.
