India, Oct. 31 -- A giant steel ring standing tall in China has caught the attention of people online because of its unusual, futuristic appearance. Known as the Ring of Life, the massive structure resembles a gateway from a science-fiction movie, with many comparing it to a Stargate or an entrance to another dimension. Videos and photographs of the landmark have sparked curiosity about its design, size, and purpose.

However, the structure has nothing to do with space travel or alien technology. Located in Shenfu New Town in Liaoning Province, between Shenyang and Fushun, the Ring of Life was developed as an architectural landmark. Standing approximately 157 metres tall, it is one of China's most unusual structures.
