India, May 29 -- A tragic multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 95 in Virginia has claimed five lives and left 34 people injured after a bus crashed into traffic near a construction zone early Friday morning.

According to Virginia State Police, the crash occurred around 2:35 a.m. on the southbound lanes of I-95 near the 146-mile marker, close to the 610-Garrisonville exit in Stafford County. Investigators said traffic had begun slowing ahead of an upcoming work zone when the bus failed to reduce speed and slammed into six vehicles.
