India, July 1 -- The southwest monsoon has finally reached Uttarakhand, bringing heavy rainfall and relief from the recent heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rain alerts for several districts, including Dehradun, Rudraprayag and Bageshwar, over the next few days. The southwest monsoon officially entered Uttarakhand on June 30, around 10 days later than its usual arrival. Authorities have also warned people to stay away from rivers, streams and landslideprone areas as the weather is expected to worsen. Here's the latest weather update.
