India, July 28 -- The US, one of the most sought after countries for asylum seekers has an active backlog of over 1.5 million unaddressed asylum applications. Now the government has introduced a new asylum related policy, under which some cases directly proceed to countries.

US Government's New Policy

The US government has introduced a new rule under which some asylum related cases will go directly to courts and skip the interview. Interviews are normally a key part of the process for asylum seekers.

The policy was introduced upon the joint recommendation of the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and the US Department of Justice (DOJ). Speaking about the same, USCIS director Joseph Adlow said that "America's asylum system ...
