India, July 26 -- Let's face it, there's a certain irony in Washington signing a landmark nuclear cooperation deal with Saudi Arabia at the very moment its own war with Iran has settled into an exhausting, directionless stalemate. The deal, often referred to as the "123 Agreement" under the US Atomic Energy Act, establishes the legal framework for US companies to cooperate with Saudi Arabia on civilian nuclear energy projects, including the construction of nuclear reactors and related technology transfer.
