India, Sept. 7 -- Another action-packed day at the US Open delivered plenty of big names, eye-catching performances and more results from Flushing Meadows. Carlos Alcaraz continued his title defence by defeating American 20th seed Tommy Paul 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 to book his place in the quarterfinals. The Spaniard remains firmly in contention for back-to-back US Open titles, while American Frances Tiafoe also advanced after getting past former champion Daniil Medvedev in straight sets.

Tiafoe, seeded 11th, overcame seventh seed Medvedev 7-6 (7/1), 6-4, 7-6 (8/6) to reach the US Open quarterfinals for the fourth time in five years. Ben Shelton also produced a dominant display, sweeping aside Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-2, 6-3, 6-4.
