India, Aug. 9 -- Tehran is signalling that it has not abandoned the possibility of talks with Washington, even though the two sides are not currently holding direct negotiations. Iranian FM Abbas Araghchi said messages continue to pass between Iran and the S through intermediaries, while efforts are underway to create conditions for a possible return to talks.

Araghchi's comments point to a cautious diplomatic opening amid continued tensions between Tehran and Washington. Iran, however, has made clear that it does not consider the exchange of messages to be negotiations and says Washington must first address what Tehran describes as violations of an interim agreement reached in June.
