India, July 20 -- The skies over the Middle East are becoming a major focus of the growing US-Iran confrontation as Washington moves additional fighter jets and support aircraft into the region. The deployment of advanced aircraft, including F-16 and F-35 fighter jets, has raised questions over whether the Trump administration is preparing for a wider military campaign against Tehran.

US officials said the aircraft movement includes fighter jets from European bases along with aerial refuelling aircraft that can extend the range of American operations. The move comes as tensions continue to increase following deadly attacks on US troops and a series of retaliatory strikes between Washington and Iran.
