India, Sept. 28 -- Iran has put forward a seven-day proposal to pause hostilities with the United States, offering to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and return to nuclear negotiations in return for sanctions relief and access to frozen Iranian assets.

The proposal was discussed indirectly on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York but was rejected by Washington, which objected to Tehran's demand for economic concessions before negotiations begin.
