India, Sept. 16 -- US-Israel-Iran War Latest Live News: Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that it shot down a US MQ-9 drone over Qeshm Island at around 2:29 am on Wednesday, using what it described as a new advanced air-defence system. The claim comes as military tensions remain high around the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the IRGC, its Aerospace Force detected and engaged the US MQ-9 over Qeshm Island, which lies near the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.

The Iranian military group said the operation was conducted through the country's integrated air-defence network. Iran has previously made similar claims involving US drones in the region.
