India, April 21 --  The United States military has intercepted and boarded a sanctioned vessel identified as the M/T Tifani during a nighttime maritime operation in the Indian Ocean, according to a confirmation from the Pentagon. Officials described the ship as a "stateless sanctioned vessel" allegedly involved in Iranian-linked smuggling activity.

The operation forms part of an expanding US maritime enforcement campaign targeting vessels accused of supporting Iran's oil trade and sanctioned networks.

The Pentagon also released video footage showing the boarding operation, which reportedly involved US Navy personnel and special forces.
