India, May 12 -- Tensions between the United States and Iran remain high as Tehran signalled that it is prepared for conflict while continuing diplomatic efforts to avoid another major escalation in the Middle East. The warning came during a period of uncertainty surrounding fragile ceasefire discussions between Washington and Tehran.

Iranian government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani said the country remains alert even as leaders continue negotiations aimed at securing long-term peace in the region.
