India, July 19 -- The US military has launched a fresh wave of airstrikes against Iran on Saturday, marking an eighth consecutive night of bombardment, hours after the US Central Command confirmed that two American service members were killed and a third remains missing following an Iranian missile and drone attack on bases in Jordan.

The US military said the fresh round of airstrikes was conducted in retaliation against Iran to "swiftly punish" the country for killing two American service members in Jordan, as a fragile ceasefire that briefly paused the war continued to unravel.
