India, June 27 -- The UK government has announced one of its biggest reforms to the country's asylum system in recent years by unveiling new safe and legal routes for refugees to enter Britain. Under the proposed changes, universities, employers, charities and community organisations will be able to sponsor eligible refugees, creating an alternative to dangerous and illegal migration routes.

Alongside the new pathways, the government plans to tighten asylum rules by reforming human rights and modern slavery laws, saying the changes will protect genuine refugees while preventing abuse of the system.
