India, Aug. 23 -- Syria is pushing to restart security talks with Israel despite a deep loss of trust following Israeli military strikes on Syrian territory. FM Asaas al-Shaibani said Damascus expects negotiations to resume soon and wants any agreement to include an Israeli withdrawal from Syrian territory seized after the fall of Bashar al-Assad.

Shaibani said Syria's immediate priority remains stopping Israeli attacks. His comments came a day after Israel struck the Abu al-Duhur airbase in northern Syria, an operation that also raised concerns about a possible confrontation involving Turkey.
