India, May 2 -- India's efforts to retain its historic Thomas Cup title have received a big setback on the very day of their semifinal match against France. Their number one singles player, Lakshya Sen, will not be able to participate in the Saturday night game due to a swollen right elbow. The injury was caused when Sen finally beat his opponent after a very long quarterfinal match against Chinese Taipei's Chou Tien Chen. Sen's diving and defensive moves helped India to win a clear 3-0. Although the Indian team is quite hopeful that he will be able to play in the final if the team makes it, they will have to face the formidable French side without their top-ranked star.
