India, May 24 -- The Xiaomi YU7 GT has claimed a new Nurburgring lap record among production SUVs, completing the 20.832km German circuit in a fastest lap of 7:22:755. The Chinese electric vehicle edges out the previous record holder, the Audi RS Q8 Performance. Audi's high-performance petrol-powered SUV had set the benchmark in June 2024.

The Record Lap

Xiaomi's performance figure is a 7:22.755 lap of the Nurburgring Nordschleife, set on April 2 with the optional Track Package installed, making it the fastest production SUV in the circuit's recorded history. That time is 14 seconds quicker than the previous record held by the Audi RS Q8 Performance (7:36.698).
