India, April 12 -- When Pakistan's defence minister Khawaja Asif warned that Islamabad would respond to any Indian attack on his country by striking as far as Kolkata, it ignited the national pride in West Bengal's chief minister Mamata Banerjee. In her election meetings she complained bitterly that Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not take any action against Pakistan for threatening to attack Kolkata. At least she felt that the Prime Minister could have ordered an investigation against the Pakistan defence minister on why he said this. For this "inaction", Mamata demanded the resignation of the Prime Minister.
