India, May 18 -- Spain, one of the favourites to win the FIFA World Cup 2026, has suffered a major injury blow, with less than a month left for the tournament. La Roja will miss the service of midfielder Fermin Lopez at the marquee event. The Barcelona star, who recently celebrated a La Liga triumph as part of a star-studded Hansi Flick's side, picked up an unfortunate injury during Sunday's 3-1 win over Real Betis at the Camp Nou.

While Spain coach Luis de la Fuente has yet to unveil the final 26-man squad, Fermin was expected to earn a call-up for the World Cup. He has been a key part of the Spanish midfield in recent times.
