India, Sept. 21 -- Climate activist and education reformer Sonam Wangchuk is set to return to the streets of Leh on September 23, 2023, leading a symbolic 20-km march as Ladakh's long-running demands for statehood and stronger constitutional safeguards remain unresolved. The march will come almost a year after four people died during violent protests in Leh on September 24, 2025.

Wangchuk's programme will be followed by a Martyrs' Day event on September 24 to remember those who died during last year's agitation.

The latest march comes as Ladakh representatives continue discussions with the Centre over an elected governance structure and constitutional protection for the Union Territory. Recent talks have included a possible new Article ...
