India, Aug. 2 -- Skywatchers across the world are gearing up for a rare total solar eclipse on August 12, 2026 the first total eclipse visible from Europe since 1999. While observers in Spain, Iceland and Greenland will experience totality, millions across the UK, parts of North America and other regions will witness a deep partial eclipse.

The Moon's shadow will begin its journey over northern Russia before crossing the Arctic, eastern Greenland and western Iceland. It will then sweep into northern Spain, where viewers will see totality just before sunset. The longest duration of totality about 2 minutes and 18 seconds will occur off the coast of Iceland.
