India, Sept. 8 -- Sir Tom Jones has found himself at the centre of fresh The Voice UK speculation but according to the singer himself, he was not the one looking to walk away. The 86-year-old star has said ITV decided to remove him from the coaching panel, even though he still "loves the show".

Jones, who has been an on-and-off coach on the singing competition since it launched in 2012, said the broadcaster had made its decision some time ago and that he was only informed recently.

The development comes as the 2027 series prepares to go into production. While ITV has been asked for a response, a source close to the show told the Press Association that the broadcaster remains "hopeful" that Jones will return.
