India, Aug. 24 -- Simon Cowell is temporarily stepping away from America's Got Talent. This has left fans to wonder why one of the show's most recognisable judges will not be present for the upcoming live shows of Season 21.

Cowell, who is also an executive producer on the NBC talent competition, will miss several weeks of the current season while he recovers from routine back surgery. The 66-year-old music executive is expected to return after his recovery but in the meantime, AGT is preparing to bring in guest judges.
