India, June 6 -- In a stunning leadership transition, Shreyas Iyer has been appointed as the captain of the Indian T20I team. He has replaced T20 World Cup-winning skipper Suryakumar Yadav to take over the helm ahead of the Ireland and England series. Iyer will also lead the Men in Blue at the Asian Games 2026, kicking off in September in Japan. Surya, who assumed captaincy after the departure of Rohit Sharma, has also been dropped from the T20I squad.

Iyer has a decent captaincy record in the Indian Premier League, where he has captained multiple franchises across seasons. Currently, the top-order batter has been in charge of Punjab Kings, the runners-up of IPL 2025.

Is Shreyas Iyer the best fit for India's T20I captain at this moment?...
