India, Sept. 28 -- The Indian stock market came under intense selling pressure on Monday, with both benchmark indices extending their losing streak. The BSE Sensex fell 1,064 points, while the NSE Nifty50 dropped below the 23,000 mark as investors reacted to rising crude prices, geopolitical uncertainty and continued foreign investor selling.

The sharp decline came after the Sensex and Nifty had already recorded their seventh consecutive weekly fall, highlighting the cautious mood across the domestic market.
