India, Oct. 16 -- ndian stock market benchmarks moved into positive territory by midday on Friday, October 16, supported by gains in information technology and metal shares. At noon, the Sensex stood at 74,661.28, up 0.47 per cent, while the Nifty 50 reached 23,120.65, gaining 0.54 per cent.

The broader market remained weaker, with the Nifty MidCap down 0.35 per cent and the Nifty SmallCap declining 0.18 per cent. The Nifty IT emerged as the strongest sectoral performer, while the Nifty Oil and Gas index faced the sharpest decline.

HDFC Life Insurance Company, Jio Financial Services and SBI Life Insurance Company featured among the Nifty 50's top losers.
