India, Oct. 29 -- Indian equity markets rallied on Thursday, with the Sensex rising more than 600 points above 73,860 and the Nifty 50 gaining around 175 points towards 22,875. The gains followed the US Federal Reserve's decision to keep interest rates unchanged and came amid renewed foreign investor buying, a stronger rupee and expectations of a possible review of India's capital gains tax regime.

The rally added nearly Rs 3 lakh crore to the combined market capitalisation of companies listed on the BSE, taking it above Rs 475 lakh crore. Mid-cap and small-cap stocks also advanced, with the Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Smallcap 100 gaining up to 0.6%.
