India, July 16 -- Scientists have discovered a new species of monkey in the dense forests of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The monkey has black fur, a black face and bright pinkish-orange lips, making it easy to recognise. It lives high in the trees of Lomami National Park. The animal was first photographed in 2008, but researchers had only one blurry image. After spotting it again years later, scientists carried out more research using photographs, sound recordings and DNA analysis. They have now confirmed that it is a completely new species.
