India, Sept. 8 -- Kyiv came under a heavy Russian aerial assault early Tuesday, with waves of drones, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles striking the Ukrainian capital and other parts of the country. Air raid alerts remained active for much of the night as Ukrainian air defence systems responded to the barrage. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said six people were injured, with three taken to hospital and three treated at the scene. Ukrainian authorities also reported deaths and injuries in the wider Kyiv area as emergency crews responded to multiple incidents.
