India, July 17 -- With Rohit Sharma's retirement speculation taking the centrestage, the Indian selectors are forced to decide a long-term partner for Shubman Gill to open the batting following the exit of the former Indian skipper. It seems management is also considering younger talents and preparing the team for the 2027 ODI World Cup. Over the years, through excellent performances in ODIs, the current skipper has been identified as one of the best. At the same time, there are other players like Ishan Kishan, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Ruturaj Gaikwad, who are waiting in the wings to replace Rohit.
