India, Aug. 6 -- A massive internal rift has erupted between India's national selection committee and the Board of Control for Cricket in India's top hierarchy following the conclusion of the England ODI series in July 2026. According to an explosive media report published by Dainik Jagran, deep disagreements emerged over veteran opening batter Rohit Sharma and his inclusion in the long-term roadmap for the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa. The selection panel, headed by chief selector Ajit Agarkar along with head coach Gautam Gambhir, reportedly informed the former captain that the team management intends to phase him out in order to build a younger squad around players like Yashasvi Jaiswal.
