India, Oct. 1 -- Rick Ross' latest appearance in the headlines has moved from music to the courtroom after the rapper was arrested in Miami Beach on Thursday, October 1, over domestic violence-related allegations. The 50-year-old artist, whose real name is William Leonard Roberts II, faces a felony battery by strangulation charge and a separate misdemeanour battery charge.

Ross was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Centre at about 6:10 a.m., according to Miami-Dade County jail records. He later appeared before a judge, who set his total bond at $6,000 and imposed restrictions on contact with the alleged victim. His arraignment is scheduled for October 22.
