India, May 3 -- The Rajasthan Royals are entering a new era yet again after a massive shake-up in their front office. On Sunday, May 3, 2026, the team officially announced that the Mittal family and Serum Institute CEO Adar Poonawalla have taken over as the new majority owners in a deal worth $1.65 billion (around Rs.15,660 crore). Just last month, the team was headed into American hands. A group led by tech entrepreneur Kal Somani, alongside big names like Rob Walton and Sheila Ford Hamp, had put forward a $1.63 billion bid. However, that deal fell through at the last minute during the final checks.
