India, July 6 -- As heavy monsoon showers continue to lash Maharashtra, residents of Pune are searching for one question: Will schools remain closed on Tuesday, July 7? The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Alert for Pune and several neighbouring districts, warning of extremely heavy rainfall, strong winds and possible flooding.

With schools already shut in Mumbai due to worsening weather, many parents and students in Pune are waiting for an official announcement from local authorities.
