India, Aug. 28 -- Paris Saint-Germain have been hit with a hefty fine by the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) after their Ligue 1 meeting with Stade Rennais was moved away from Parc des Princes. The decision raises questions over whether the unusual venue switch, triggered by severe pitch damage during a period of extreme heat, could have been avoided. PSG had warned that the surface was unsuitable for players' safety. The match, which was also the season opener, was eventually played at Rennes, with the two teams settling for a 2-2 draw.
