India, Aug. 10 -- Severe monsoon thunderstorms have slammed the Phoenix metropolitan area, bringing damaging wind gusts up to 80 mph, heavy downpours, hail, and intense blowing dust. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued Severe Thunderstorm and Flash Flood warnings across Maricopa and Pinal counties to address the immediate hazards.

Power Outages & Impacted Areas

The severe winds and lightning have heavily impacted local utility infrastructure, knocking down power lines and tripping equipment. Approximately 20,000 customers are currently without power across the Valley, with the majority concentrated in the West Valley.
