India, June 26 -- A powerful 6.5-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of the southern Philippine island of Mindanao on Friday evening, June 26, 2026. According to initial assessments by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the tremor occurred at 7:42 pm local time at a depth of roughly 52.4 kilometres. Its epicentre was located in the waters approximately 35 kilometres southwest of Jose Abad Santos town (or 21 kilometres southwest of Sarangani town) on Mindanao island.
